The location of a photo session matters as much as the light: it sets the mood, the colours and the memory. Nouméa and its surroundings offer very varied settings. Here are eight ideas to help you choose yours.

1. Anse Vata and its promenade

Beach, coconut palms, open sky: a classic, bright setting, ideal for portraits, couples and families. Choose early morning or late afternoon for softer light and fewer people.

2. Baie des Citrons

A livelier atmosphere, with vivid colours and the movement of the bay. It suits fashion sessions and portraits full of life.

3. Ouen Toro

This hill offers views over the bay and the lagoon. It lets you play with the landscape and the light at the end of the day.

4. The forest park

For a natural setting and shade on hot days, a wooded park is a good choice, especially for sessions with children.

5. The city centre and its streets

Colourful walls, urban lines, architecture: the city centre lends itself to artistic portraits, fashion sessions and more graphic images.

6. The islets and the lagoon

For striking images, the sea is an exceptional backdrop. The lagoon also allows aquatic and underwater sessions, to be planned according to the weather and sea conditions.

7. Île des Pins

Natural pool, beaches, turquoise water: a dream location for a wedding or a couple’s session, as long as you plan transport and accommodation.

8. At home

For a pregnancy session, a newborn or children, home is often where you feel best. The light from a window and a familiar setting give very natural images.

Remember to check whether your chosen location needs a permit (private property, regulated area) and to look at the weather before the session: an indoor plan B avoids a lot of worry.
