Newborn photo session in Nouméa: preparing baby’s first photos

A baby’s first weeks go by very quickly. A newborn photo session lets you keep those very first moments: the tiny fingers, the features of the face, the tenderness of the parents. Here are a few tips to prepare it calmly.

When should the session take place?

Newborns are usually photographed in their first weeks, when they sleep a lot and stay very calm. Let the photographer know as early as possible to set a date, which can be adjusted around the birth.

At home or elsewhere?

Home is often the best choice: baby is in his or her own environment, there is no journey, and the light from a window gives soft images. Choose the brightest room and make sure it is at a comfortable temperature, with no draughts or excessive heat.

Preparing baby

A fed and changed baby is calmer. Allow time for feeds, cuddles and breaks: the session follows the baby’s rhythm, not the other way round. The baby’s safety and comfort always come before the photo.

Simple outfits and accessories

Soft blankets, a plain bodysuit, a little hat: simple elements are enough. For the parents, choose plain, comfortable outfits in tones that go with those of the room.

Including the whole family

Parents’ hands around baby, the gaze of a big brother or sister, the grandparents: family photos are often the ones you look at most, years later.
