Much more than a simple corporate portrait
When people think of corporate photography, they often picture an individual portrait against a plain background. It is an important part of my work, which I cover in more detail in the article on professional portraits and brand image. But a company is also a collective life: a team working together, highlights, events that set the pace of the year. It is this reportage side that I want to detail here, through team photos and the coverage of business events in Nouméa and Greater Nouméa.
Team photos: capturing cohesion without stiff poses
A successful team photo should look like the company it represents: dynamic, human, consistent with its stated values. Rather than lining everyone up rigidly, I prefer to offer several set-ups: a posed group photo for official materials, then more spontaneous images, at work or during a break. This gives you a varied library to use on your website, social media or an annual report, without always reusing the same picture.
For a consistent result, it helps to coordinate outfits a little (avoid visible competitor logos, choose colours that do not clash) and to plan a time slot when most of the team is available, ideally outside the busiest hours of the day.
Seminars, product launches and trade shows
Corporate events lend themselves particularly well to photo reportage: they tell a story with a beginning, a flow and highlights. At a seminar, a launch evening or a trade show, my role is to move around discreetly to capture conversations, speeches, the overall atmosphere and the details that reflect the quality of the organisation (signage, staging, activities). These images are useful internally, to showcase your teams’ work, as well as externally, to communicate with your clients or partners on social media and in your newsletters.
A briefing beforehand is invaluable: knowing the programme, the moments not to miss (a speech by a director, an awards ceremony, networking time) and the key people to photograph lets me organise my presence efficiently, without disrupting the day.
Preparing for the day of the shoot
A few simple points make the work much easier and improve the result:
- Choose a venue with natural light if possible, or check the room lighting in advance
- Share a precise schedule and an on-site contact person for the day
- Let participants know a photographer will be present, for image rights reasons
- If needed, set aside a small dedicated space for quick individual portraits alongside the event
For companies based in Dumbéa, Mont-Dore or Païta, I travel easily throughout Greater Nouméa, and more widely anywhere in New Caledonia depending on the needs of your event.
Using the photos after the shoot
Once the shoot is over, the photos are delivered online, in a private and secure space, which makes sharing easy between the company’s departments (communication, human resources, management). I also invite you to read the article on copyright and image usage to clearly define how your photos can be used across your communication materials.
