A christening is a strong moment for the child and for the whole family. It goes by quickly and takes place somewhere you cannot always do everything you would like, so it is best prepared together with the photographer.
Check with the parish
Before the ceremony, ask the priest or the parish whether there are any rules for photos: permitted positions, use of flash, moving around the church. Pass them on to the photographer, who will adapt to them.
The key moments not to miss
The family’s arrival, the welcome of the child, the baptismal water, the candle, the blessing, the smiles of the godparents. List the ones that matter most to you so the photographer can be ready for them.
Often low light
Churches can be dark. An experienced photographer knows how to work with the available light, discreetly, without disturbing the ceremony.
Family photos outside
Allow a few minutes after the ceremony for group photos: the child with his or her parents, godparents, grandparents, the whole family. As at a wedding, a written list and one person in charge of gathering everyone saves a lot of time.
The details of the celebration
The cake, the decoration, the christening gown or suit, the gifts: these details tell the story of the day and deserve a few images.
